The LAPL(A) licence entitles the holder to fly without remuneration as PIC in single-engine piston-powered aircraft landing on a hard surface with a maximum certificated take-off mass of 2000kg or less, carrying a maximum of 3 passengers so that there are never more than 4 persons on board the aircraft.

 

 

Entry requirements:

 

Minimum age – 17 years.

Documents to be submitted by the applicant: copies of diploma of education /secondary or higher/, identity card, Class 2 medical certificate /certificate must be issued by a European specialist medical centre/.

The training programme includes:

Internal rules and organisation structure, airport area, restricted areas, methodological developments.

 

Theoretical training

Duration: 20 days distance learning and weekly consultations with lecturers on 9 subjects. In order to be licensed, the candidate must pass 9 exams before the DG CAA in Bulgarian or English. The examination sessions are monthly. The exams must be taken by the end of flight training.

 

Flight training – 30:00 flying hours in Cessna 172 aircraft

The student will be provided with the flight training syllabus with the development of each exercise, charts, aircraft instruction and other materials on electronic media.

The flight training program generally includes:

– Familiarization with the type of aircraft on which the training will be conducted – airframe, engine, cockpit equipment, aircraft instruction.

– Familiarization with the training program, flight documentation.

– Familiarization with the flight area of Belchin Airport.

– Flight preparation and pre-flight operations.

– Flights with an instructor.

– Solo flights.

– Preparation and execution of VFR route flights.

– Radio navigation training.

Before and after each flight, the instructor conducts a briefing with the candidate to determine his/her preparation, identify errors and ways to prevent them.

Upon successful completion of the flight programme, the applicant shall be given a flight test by a checking instructor appointed by the DG CAA. During the flight test, the applicant shall demonstrate confident take-off, landing, aerodrome area flight and VFR route performance, as well as correct radio handling.

The LAPL(A) licence has an expiry date after which the holder must apply to the CAA DG for reissue and the SEP-L rating endorsement must be renewed with a flight check every two years by a checking instructor. If the SEP-L endorsement is not renewed within the time limit, the applicant must undergo a recertification programme and a flight check.
